Neat or On the Rocks Pairing Suggestions

Marko’s Grilled Pork Loin – We’re going to start with Marko’s grilled pork loin. It’s an easy recipe, great for a weekday or weekend meal. Rub the pork loin with a paste made with – Dijon mustard, garlic powder, turmeric, smoked paprika, olive oil, salt & pepper. Grill the pork loin until the internal temperature reaches 129-130F. Our favorite side dishes with this are grilled asparagus (when in season), oven-roasted root vegetables or a caesar salad. The smoky notes of Stout Whiskey pair beautifully with the charred flavors of this pork loin dish.

Garlic Butter Ribeye Steak – Another simple dish to pair with your glass of Stout, is a pan-seared steak, like a ribeye. Season the steak with salt and pepper, heat a neutral oil in a pan, then sear on both sides until meat is golden brown. Melt some butter in the pan, add chopped garlic and rosemary, and spoon over the steak until done. Rest out of the pan for 5 minutes before slicing and serving. The browned butter flavors highlight the Stout’s oak and vanilla notes.

Pot Roast – For the colder months, a pot roast slow-cooked with carrots and potatoes makes for a comforting, earthy pairing. Try this unique recipe by Alton Brown. He suggests serving it the next day, once the flavors have developed further.

Smoky Eggplant Lasagna – This is a great vegetarian pairing and is a good match to Stout’s oak and roasted coffee character. This recipe by Love & Lemons has no noodles, so if you’re gluten-free, you’re going to love it!

Chicken Piccata with Lemon and Capers – The sharp citrus and salty capers in this dish contrast beautifully with Stout’s sweetness and vanilla tones. For a quick recipe, try this one from Allrecipes. Should be on the table in less than 30 minutes, according to their directions…

Stuffed Chicken Breast with Walnuts, Ricotta, Spinach & Sun-Dried Tomatoes – Another chicken pairing suggestion is a stuffed chicken breast. The creamy and tangy filling enhances the roasted coffee and chocolate tones in a glass of Stout. We love California grown walnuts so this recipe from them is a great one to try.

Dark Chocolate Bread Pudding with Espresso Mascarpone – This is the recipe for the ultimate dessert pairing. The whiskey’s roasted coffee, chocolate malt, and baking spice notes naturally complement the dessert, creating a rich and indulgent pairing experience. See recipe.

Cheese Pairing Ideas – For cheese pairing with Stout, we suggest any of these, or all of them! Aged Smoked Gouda, Stilton, Triple Cream Brie, or Comté. And a personal favorite is Quinta by a local cheese producer, Point Reyes. Everything they produce is amazing!
