Ancho Contorto + Smoky Grilled Steak or
Mushroom Street Tacos
Why it pairs well:
The charred, umami flavors in grilled meat or mushrooms complement the smoky chili profile of the Ancho Contorto cocktail. Add fresh lime, pickled onions, and crema to balance the spice.
Ingredients:
– Flank steak or portobello mushrooms
– Small corn or flour tortillas
– Smoked paprika, garlic powder, cumin, olive oil, juiced lime, salt & pepper
– Optional toppings: diced onion, chopped cilantro, salsa, avocado, cheese, sour cream
Steps
1. Marinate meat – Mix olive oil, smoked paprika, cumin, garlic powder, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Rub it onto the meat and let it marinate for 30 minutes (or longer for more flavor). If using mushrooms, when grilling, add spices and lime juice.
2. Heat your grill or pan to high. Cook the meat until done. Let it rest, then slice thinly.
3. Toss tortillas on the grill or in a dry pan for 30 seconds each side until soft and slightly charred.
4. Add sliced meat or mushrooms to the tortillas and top with onion, coriander, salsa, or your favorite toppings. Serve with a lime on the side.
